First, we made him cry through his nighttime feeding. The first night, he cried for 45 minutes. The second night was 2 hours (he leaked in the middle of this and we didn't know it). The third night he slept 8 straight hours. Some nights he cries, some nights he doesn't. If he cries for an extended time, one of us goes and sleeps on Silas' trundle bed while the other makes sure Eli hasn't rolled over or gotten himself into a corner.
The second thing we've been working on is food. He really likes his oatmeal cereal, but we haven't had much success with anything else. Apple sauce, pumpkin, and bananas all get tight lips. There is a story about Christian when he was a baby, he would only eat his mother's homemade yogurt and nothing else.
The last thing is the best. Eli has recently started opening his arms, wanting to be picked up or held. The other day I went to get him from the nursery. He was sitting in the woman's arms, but when he saw me he opened both arms as wide as he could and leaned forward, with a big grin on his face. He'll also do this when we approach him while he's in his seat or exersaucer. He also really likes to be cuddled against my chest. Silas likes to give him kisses, and Eli always smiles at him when he does. I hope Eli grows up to be like Silas, a good cuddle bug.
