Silas and I enjoyed a nice warm day outside the other day. We dug in the creek, played with earthworms, planted some flowers and seeds, and got plenty of dirt on both of us. It was a lot of fun.

My forsythia bushes and daffodils in the background. This was the first year the forsythias didn't look puny, although they're still not quite as full as I would like for them to be.
Silas and his earthworms. You can tell how much he's changed in a year, just by how he interacts with earthworms. Last year it was, "Ooh, look at the little crawling worms." This year it's, "Where are their eyes? What do they eat? Do you think I can take them home with me?" My favorite was, "Why is it not moving?" He wanted to know everything about them, but couldn't understand why they would want to live in dirt. "What do they do at night?" I told him to be gentle and that he couldn't keep them out of dirt for long or they would die. He was mesmerized. Too cute.
