I am about to post a LOT of pictures, just to warn you. This is a blog about my children's lives, after all, and we just went to England to visit my husband's family. So here goes:
Our flight over went well. We got extra leg room on the long-haul flight because we had a baby, and we got to cut to the front of the immigration line because some poor immigration officer felt sorry for us. Silas and Eli both slept for a large portion of the overnight flight.
Eli did well on the flights, and we were complimented on how good our children were on every single leg, both there and back (obviously the people around us saw two children and thought the worst).
Eli asleep in the crib (or cot, depending on your dialect) at his grandparents' house. And sleeping on the same sheets his father slept on as a baby. I've always wondered at Christian's love for sports. Now I know it was because of the sheets!
The view from our bedroom at Christian's parents' house.
The tide was up. The extreme difference in tide levels has always amazed me. Growing up on the Gulf of Mexico, the difference between high tide and low tide was about 20 feet. At low tide on the Looe River, the water will be low enough to walk across and barely get your ankles wet.
At the amusements. Eli cut four teeth while we were in England!
Coffee out every morning. Coffee for Mum and me, tea for Dad and Christian. Scones with Cornish cream and jam, as well as a bacon sandwich and teacakes. Delicious. Also a prerequisite: a debate on whether you put the cream on the scone first and then the jam on top, or the jam on first and then the cream. It all depends on where you're from.

The Cornish coast.
A very old hand-crank Austin in the Looe parking lot/car park.
The Looe River and beach.
Silas enjoying his walk.
Coffee at the Hanafore Hotel with Grandma.
A real duck we came across on our way home from coffee.
Eli had a busy morning.
